RGB4 Marches on

Posted in krakli, music, Uncategorized, vsti with tags , , , , , on February 6, 2009 by krakli

Progress is good with RGB4, which is turning into quite an exciting plugin.

Part of the joy of using other users to beta-test these things is that they can come up with some really good ideas. One of the testers suggested to me that the sound was a little too static and so we came up with the idea of the Flux Generator. This will make more sense when I post some video of the thing in action but it basically is a control for sweeping through part or all of the 32 harmonics using various patterns and it does sound very cool, especially when not too heavily applied and in random mode!

RGB4 is quite a hard instrument to describe and will almost certainly need some form of manual or tutorial to prevent much head-scratching on first exposure. It is with testers and patch-writers now and unless some drastic bugs make themselves known it should be released in a matter of weeks. I may consider offering it free or as donation-ware. I am undecided at the moment. I am still uncomfortable charging for SE plugs whilst the Multi-core bug is still a factor.

I have posted a couple of (Rubbish) audio clips just to give you a flavour of the sounds it will produce, quite digital in my opinion.

I will keep you posted of any further developments.

This week I will be mostly…

.. continuing work on a new synth called Arctic (Son of Chill perhaps?) With this one I have gone for a synth with a very strong sonic Character (in the same way that Cygnus has ‘a sound’). Cold and digital but at the same time with a lot of power and movement in the sound.. Early sounds coming out of it are very promising and it is proving to be light on CPU too.

The CM special is due out in Mid-June and I have it on good authority that Krakli is featured more than once in its pages. I believe that I will be getting a sneak preview of the cover soon and I will post it here when I do.

I have been arsing about with the spy-shots etc and I promise that i will be able to give you full details of its spec soon. Suffice to say that I was able to use some of the things that I learnt with RMP (the synth that never was) and include them on this one. I have received favorable comments about the interface also, so it will be interesting to see if it makes an impact with the readership.

Krakli Forum now on KvRAudio

KVR have been kind enough to let me run a forum at their site. You can find a link to the forum on the right hand side of this page.  Due to the fact that KvR drives the vast of traffic to this site it makes perfect sense for the forum to live there. Also it gives me a better place to post early news or updates to stuff that I am working on but have not officially released..

S3 series problems with FLStudio ver 8

Posted in Uncategorized on May 2, 2008 by krakli

I had already noticed, but some users reminded me to mention it. It would appear that the latest version of FLStudio (ver 8 ) is having difficulties with some of the S3 series, S3 and S3B so far. it is my understanding that Image-line are working on a fix, but if they do not sort it in sufficient time, I will see if I can come up with a version that doesn’t crash out. I will keep you posted.

Layering Krakli plugs and a free version of S3k imminent

Posted in krakli, music, Uncategorized, vsti with tags , , , , , , on April 10, 2008 by krakli I discussed in a recent post I have been having fun layering the S3 pad synths with the CM special. This video should demonstrate that it is possible to acheive sounds very similar to the ill-fated RMP synth.

Also a free version of S3K should be added to the Krakli website very shortly. This will be a version that is complete except that it does not contain the sequencer panel, however everything else about it will be included, such as the arpegiator, Octaver and Ring-mod controls

Finishing up the work on some of the S3 series.

S3K looks especially interesting as it has a full 32 stage, step sequencer built in and a filter with overdrive that can really squeal.

I am also working on another CM exclusive. I am prevented from giving too much away at the moment but it is a reworking of one of my favorite Krakli plugins. I believe that it will be available about June time..
